Bromberg Photography resulted from the confluence of two events – the maturing of the photographic digital age and the insistence of a friend that I come to a local jazz jam.  Prior to acquiring a digital camera, I had begun to take advantage of the extraordinary capabilities of digital manipulation and printing.  I soon subscribed to the saying that “digital manipulation can’t make a poor picture good, but it can make a good picture better”.

I was not prepared for what I found by entering into the digital realm.  The entire range of photographic subjects seemed to broaden and intensify.  Landscape and nature photography became more alive and vivid and beginning to photograph jazz musicians forced me to consider the human element in all of my compositions.  The intensity with which the musicians played jazz, combined with developing the ability to capture that intensity has transcended all my efforts, regardless of the subject, and produced some powerful images.

I gave up the chemistry darkroom several years ago.  All of my images are now produced in broad daylight using my digital “light” room.  All of the pictures shown on this site are digital, either scanned from color slides or produced directly from a digital camera.  All prints are digital and available for sale.
